About Me
Dr. Al Amin Al Abbasi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University. His research expertise primarily lies in rural transformation, agricultural economics, and the application of empirical spatial and panel data analysis. His scholarly work integrates rigorous empirical methodologies with policy-oriented research, with a particular focus on the challenges faced by developing countries. Throughout his academic tenure, Dr. Abbasi has made substantial contributions to rural transformation, agricultural economics, trade, gender, and education, particularly in Bangladesh and other developing nations. In addition to his academic contributions, Dr. Abbasi has been actively engaged in collaborative research initiatives, notably through his partnership with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) on the project "Understanding the Drivers of Successful and Inclusive Rural Regional Transformation: Sharing Experiences and Policy Advice in Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, and Pakistan." In this project, Dr. Abbasi played a pivotal role in the development of key policy documents and was instrumental in shaping development economics and policy initiatives related to poverty alleviation, income inequality, gender inequality, and land distribution. These initiatives were particularly focused on addressing the socio-economic challenges in Bangladesh. His work in this area has contributed to the formulation of evidence-based policies to foster inclusive and sustainable rural development.
